June 2017 Student Trip

In June, 2017, eight students and four adults traveled from Boise, Idaho to South Africa on the Small Village Foundation’s (SVF) bi-annual Service Learning Trip. While there, the students participated in activities to help abused children, helped organize a clinic for pre-school teachers, painted a facility for disabled youth, delivered food to needy families, distributed shoes to orphans and reading glasses to elderly villagers, and other service projects. They also learned about South Africa’s history, environment, and culture by visiting the Apartheid Museum, Soweto Township, and Nelson Mandela Capture Site; viewing South African wildlife on a photo safari and rising the Falcon Ridge Bird of Prey Centre, and; shopping at local markets and experiencing traditional cuisine.
